Trekking in Morocco: The Draa Valley is one of the biggest Moroccan valleys.

Enjoy 9 days of trekking in the High Atlas Mountains, meet the tribes of the Sahara Desert and then spend the night in the stunning Dunes of Chegaga.

Day 1 : Marrakech

Upon arrival into Marrakech, you will be transferred to your hotel in the city center. Your afternoon will be clear, leaving you free to explore the city of Marrakech at your leisure.

Day 2 : Marrakech / Faija.

We start the day by driving across the High Atlas Mountains to Ouarzazat and then Zagora passing by amazing, panoramic views of the Moroccan countryside. It takes almost 8 hours driving, but along the way you will pass date-palm oases, Berber villages, and incredible Moroccan landscapes. We will leave the minibus in Zagora and switch to a more suitable vehicle that will take us to Faija, where we will meet the camels and their cameleers.

Day 3 : Faija / Camping .

Today we start our trekking tour first thing in the morning. First, we’ll load the camels and then head to Hamada to begin our guided tour of Morocco proper. We will come across the beautiful views of the Saghro Mountains, and with luck, you may also see some Bedouin nomads. After lunch in the oasis, we will walk along ancient dry river beds and arrive at the camp site by sunset. This section is usually around 6.5 hours.

Day 4 : Camping / Dunes of Chegaga.

We will trek up to the Abbes Pass, where we will experience the incredible vastness of the Sahara Desert. We should be able to spot the beautiful Dunes of Chegaga where we’ll be staying the night. Trekking time should be about 6.5 hours.

Day 5: Dunes of Chegaga / Dunes of Bougarne .

We will start the day by walking through a multitude of Chegaga’s small sand dunes, then we continue to M’hamid where we will stop to have lunch under the Tamares trees. By evening time we’ll arrive to the Dunes of Bougarne, a very beautiful site rarely frequented and almost unknown to most travelers. Walking time will be around 5 hours.

Day 6: Dunes of Bougarne / Dunes of Oued Naam .

Today we will start quite early to be able to catch the sun rising over the dunes. As the sun comes up, we will trek up to a huge rocky plateau and head toward the Dunes of Oued Naam and getting there by late afternoon. The day will be around 6.5 hours of trekking.

Day 7 : Dunes of Oued Naam / Dunes of Mhamid / Agdez .

This will be the last stage of our trekking adventure and will take us through beautiful desert landscapes and finally, an immense plateau of small dunes through which we’ll reach the Regaga and then the Mhamid Dunes. Here the trek reaches its end, and you can take a well-earned rest.

Later we’ll continue by car along the Draa Valley to Zagora and then to Agdez where you will be staying overnight in your hotel. Walking time is 3 hours.

Day 8 : Agdez / Ouarzazat Ticheka Pass / Marrakech (2260m ASL).

We’ll take the road from Agdz to Marrakech along the beautiful Ticheka route and we will arrive in the city of Marrakech by the afternoon.

Day 9 :

Transfer to airport in Marrakech
