Adventure Trek: explore the Berber communities and their environment.
A perfect introduction to a trekking experience in Morocco surrounded by traditional Berber culture.
During this adventure trek, we’ll spend 4 days trekking in the high peaks of the Atlas Mountains. A hike amidst cool vegetation of juniper and pine trees is a perfect way to rejuvenate your mind and body. Go trekking across deep gorges, gushing river streams and groves of cherry and walnut trees, as your guide takes you on a great hike up and down the beautiful hills.
The valleys are home to tiny hamlets and villages of the ethnic Berbers, a herding and farming community. We will visit their homes and interact with and get to know more about their traditions and customs. We can see how they work the land with terraced fields of corn and barley and get a glimpse of their day to day living.
Day 1 : Marrakech / Imlil / Tacheddirt
Upon arrival to Marrakech you will be transferred from the airport or from your hotel in Marrakech to Imlil. From Imlil 1740 metres above sea level (ASL) we’ll hike to Tacheddirt at 2300 metres via Tizi ‘n Tamatert Pass. We’ll spend the night in a local gite. In summer it is also possible to spend the night in tents.
Approx walking duration is 4 hours.
Day 2 : Tacheddirt / Imsker
Today we will walk from Tacheddirt to Imsker at 1300 metres ASL and down the Imnane valley crossing the following Berber villages: Ounskra, Tamguiste ,Ikkis, Amssakrou and Arg. We’ll spend the night in a local gite or in tents.
Day 3 : Imsker / Tizi Oussem
We will trek from Imsker to Tizi Oussem via Tizi ‘n Lbour Pass, the Imlil Valley and eventually to the Tizi ‘n Tacht Pass at 2000 metres ASL before we get to Ait Aissa Village in the Azzaden Valley. We will spend the night in Tizi Oussem in a local gite.
Approx walking duration is 6 hours.
Day 4 : Tizi Oussem / Imlil /Marrakech
After breakfast, we will trek to Tizi Oussem and from there to Imlil at 1740 meters ASL. We will hike via Ighouliden Waterfalls (2400 metres) and Tizi Mzik Pass at 2450 metres.
Our trek will then take us back to Imlil and we can transfer back to Marrakech.
Approx walking duration is 4 hours.
